Persimmon, also known as Cachi, has been a fruit that has decorated our family table ever since I could remember. Nonno would cut up the Cachi fruit for everyone at the table and proudly display them on a round plate. In his classic Italian fashion, he would push the plate in my direction, making sure I tasted the delicious fruit. I can’t even say the word “cachi” without cracking a smile — I can hear my Uncle Nory happily exclaiming the word “Cachi” over and over again in my head. It’s safe to say, The Fallone family is a huge fan of this juicy fruit. lol.

Nonno wouldn’t stop asking you to taste the persimmon until he’d watch you take a bite 😂 (if you know, you know.) Nothing brought Nonno more joy than watching you eat the food he served to you.

After he witnessed your nod of approval, he’d say with a smile, “See? Es shhhweet”. — You could expect him to say this every meal! It was classic. I miss it.
