"Melagrana" - Italy Inspired Ornament by Corinne Yancone
“Melagrana” (Pomegranate) Inspired by my travels through Italy.
We rented a car in Italy and drove from north to south, reaching multiple destinations in a day. Every day we would drive passed a pomegranate tree and we would all get so excited. Danny would yell, “Melagrana!”, and we would all laugh. Every holiday, my dad would sit at the dinner table and peel the seeds out of the pomegranate into a bowl one by one. He use to say it was therapeutic for him as he’d sit there and concentrate for 30 minutes peeling the fruit. My dad would peel the pomegranates for me because he knew how much I loved them. He’d say to eat the pomegranate seeds with a spoon so that you get more flavor. His famous saying was — “you gotta know how to eat” ;) . Eating was definitely one of his strengths. lol
