I have a vivid memory of my dad and my husband picking lemons off the trees in Sorrento. The excitement on their faces was priceless. The lemons in Italy are JUMBO compared to what we have here in the states. My dad had us smell the lemon he picked as if we had never seen or smelled one before. My dad asked us in awe, “doesn’t that smell GOOD!?”. We laughed at my dad because it was “just a lemon”…. but to him, it was culture.

Painting lemons evokes a sense of my father's presence, and I believe that sharing this fig painting with you allows me to convey his joyful spirit and legacy. <3

Created using a palette knife and various paintbrushes, the figs are intentionally painted and elevated from the canvas, providing a three-dimensional, sculptural effect that adds depth to the piece.
